Help with the Harvest!

The Harvest Celebration – that is.  June 3, 2010.  But we need a lot of help planning the event, for all the area kids who work out in the garden.   Next organizational meeting for the Harvest Celebration will be on Thursday, May 20 at Baylor Starbucks at 6pm.

Background:

In 2008, the Back to the Earth Gardening Coalition (now the HOT Urban Gardening Coalition) held a Harvest Lunch at Carver Park Baptist Church to honor the students and volunteers who worked at the Carver Park Baptist, Doris Miller Elementary and GL Wiley Elementary gardens.

This year’s Harvest Celebration will honor the many students who have participated at school and church gardens partnering with the HOT Urban Gardening Coalition. As well as honoring garden club students, the Urban Gardening Coalition is working with the McLennan County Hunger Coalition to promote Waco ISD’s Summer Lunch Program and raise awareness of the benefits of working with youth in the garden. The Harvest Celebration will be held at Lake Shore Baptist Church on June 3, 2010 (Waco ISD’s last day of school) from 2:00–4:00pm.
