In this workshop, we’ll be discussing basic chicken health, coop design, chicken-keeping regulations, and other fun facts about keeping chickens in the city. Whether you are poultry-curious or have been raising chickens for years, please join us. We’d love to hear about your chicken coop/chalet designs and stories about backyard fowl keeping.
Location: 1526 N. 11th Street (a house at the corner of 11th Ave. and Indiana – one block from Colcord Ave.)
Time: 10:00am – 12:00pm – followed by a potluck picnic. And then you should head over to the Waco Cultural Arts Fest.
Suggested donations for participation in the workshop is $5-10 (which you can convenient donate online using the Paypal link on the Coalition’s website: hotugc.org or at the time of the workshop). Donations support UGC’s work with after-school gardens, garden trainings, and our co-op booth at the Waco Downtown Farmers Market.
Participants are asked to bring a dish (preferably seasonal), and also to bring their recipes to share with other participants. Over food we’ll continue the conversation, sharing stories and problems and trade garden tips.
