Hi all you fresh veggie locavores,
A long hot summer has stifled the CSA, but thank the Lord!, we’ve received about 4 ¾ inches of rain over the weekend!!! As you know, the drought has been devastating for the land, plants and animals, and even many people. The Garden was hot as hades this summer and the Veggies did not have a chance. With this blessing of rain and cooler temperatures, we are ready to move ahead full steam with a fall garden and your CSA should be turning out exciting veggies very soon.
Seedlings I will soon plant:
- Squire Kale
- Glacier and Sweetie Tomatoes
- Romanesco and Yellow Squash
- Copenhagen and Charmant Cabbage
- De CiCi, Southern Comet, and Calibrese Brocoli
- Leaf lettuce and Boston Bib style lettuce
- Purple and regular Pak Choi
- Red, Yellow, and White onions
- Rainbow Swiss chard
- Delfino and Slow Bolting Cilantro
- Purple and Green Basil
- French and English Thyme
- Greek and Sicilian Oregano
- Texas Tarragon
I’ll be planting several varieties of potatoes.
Several varieties of the following seeds I’ll be planting:
- And other suprises
Of course I’ll be planting 60-70 varieties of garlic. But those won’t be ready until late spring. In the mean time, I’ve reserved some amazing garlic solely to include in the CSA baskets. There are few people in the world who will have access to these. The rest I need to plant so that we will all have an abundance of garlic next year.
I’ll be keeping you updated on how your garden is growing and the status of your CSA share. There will be opportunities to volunteer and visit the gardens.
Spread the word, CSA shares available.
